Rehearsing a Goalkeeper Press-Bait Sequence

Use small goalkeeper movement, a pressing trigger, and a support-player adjustment to show how the release pass opens.

Scenario

The teaching value comes from the timing. The goalkeeper moves just enough to trigger the first presser, the support player adjusts into the lane, and the release pass appears because the press has committed.

Board setup

  • Place the goalkeeper, two center-backs, pivot, and opponent first line around the penalty area.
  • Use the first frame to show the calm starting position before pressure arrives.
  • Keep the release lane empty until the support movement makes it available.

Teaching points

  • The goalkeeper movement should be small and purposeful.
  • The support player must move as the press commits, not after the lane is already closed.
  • The release pass should beat the first line rather than simply recycle possession.

How to present it in TacticSlate

  1. 1. Start with the goalkeeper in possession and the first pressing line ready to jump.
  2. 2. Animate the goalkeeper movement that attracts the first presser.
  3. 3. Move the support player into the release lane during the same frame.
  4. 4. Finish with the pass and the next support option beyond the first line.

Explanation notes

  • Slow down the first frame time if the press-bait movement is too subtle in playback.
  • Use labels only for the first presser and release option; too many labels crowd the penalty area.

Review checklist

  • The first presser has a visible trigger.
  • The support player opens the lane at the right moment.
  • The final pass advances the build-up beyond the first pressure line.
